TDCJ Release Routes
No TDCJ prison was identified in Presidio County. A felony prisoner can still move from Presidio County Jail into the statewide TDCJ institutional system after judgment. The county departure is then a transfer, not a release to the community. TDCJ becomes the custodian for incarceration history, location, Projected Release Date, release certificate, and later discharge information.
A person may leave a TDCJ institution on parole, mandatory supervision, bench-warrant movement, sentence discharge, or another authorized transfer. Parole is supervised release approved through the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. Mandatory supervision is a distinct statutory form of supervised release. Discharge means the state sentence or supervision has ended as recorded, while a prison exit to supervision does not mean the sentence is complete.

Search Current TDCJ Custody
The official TDCJ inmate search is for people currently incarcerated in TDCJ. It accepts identifying fields and warns that information is at least 24 hours old and refreshed on working days. A delayed appearance after a Presidio transfer can reflect the update cycle. A missing former prisoner is not, by itself, proof of discharge.

- Start with the TDCJ or SID number when available.
- Otherwise enter the last name and first initial, then compare all returned identifiers.
- Record the listed unit, offense, county, and retrieval time.
- If a recent transfer is absent, allow for the stated update lag or contact Classification and Records.
- After a person disappears, request actual history rather than labeling the result a release.
Obtain TDCJ Release Records
TDCJ's information-by-email route can provide the TDCJ number, location, offense, incarceration history, counties and courts, and Projected Release Date without charge. Its official page also states that public requests through that route do not receive photographs or Social Security numbers. The projected field is a forecast, not an exit certificate.
For durable proof, use the TDCJ public-information form. Ask for incarceration history, actual release or discharge date, release method, the OIMS discharge entry, release certificate, and identifiers. Note: Request the release certificate and actual history together when a projected date or parole vote is the only public clue.
TDCJ Projected Release Meaning
TDCJ uses the exact label “Projected Release Date.” For a legally eligible offense before September 1, 1996, it is the date the person will be released if not paroled. For an eligible offense on or after that date, mandatory-supervision release is discretionary with BPP. If the Board does not approve, or the offense is ineligible, the projected date is the discharge date. In every form it remains a forecast until the actual record confirms departure.

The source helps distinguish a reported projection from a completed TDCJ release. Preserve the date on which the field was obtained.
Sentence corrections, jail credit, lost or restored good time, added sentences, detainers, BPP votes, mandatory-supervision review, required programs, and release-plan approval can change the forecast. TDCJ Good Time Limits
Texas has no blanket rule requiring every state prisoner to serve 85 percent. Government Code Section 498.003 makes good-conduct time relevant to parole or mandatory-supervision eligibility and says it otherwise does not reduce the sentence term. It is a privilege, not a right. Classification rates differ, credits can be lost or restored, and some cases are excluded from mandatory supervision.
Under Sections 508.145, 508.147, and 508.149, offense type, offense date, sentence, deadly-weapon findings, and statutory exclusions matter. Certain serious-offense cases generally use actual calendar time equal to half the sentence or 30 years, whichever is less, with a two-year floor, subject to the governing law and exceptions. Eligibility is not a release order. County jail time calculations are separate and must not be replaced with TDCJ formulas.

Presidio TDCJ Handoffs
When a Presidio County release sheet names TDCJ, preserve the county booking number, state identifiers, transfer date, court, case number, and destination. Search TDCJ after accounting for the working-day lag. While confinement continues, capture the location and projected date. After the current-only record disappears, request the state history and certificate.
A favorable BPP vote still requires Review and Release Processing to verify the file, release plan, and other conditions. The division currently lists 512-406-5449. The BPP main number is 512-406-5452, and the Parole Status Line is 844-512-0461. If supervision begins, describe the event as release from incarceration to parole or mandatory supervision. Do not call it full discharge without a later record.
For notifications, TDCJ's Integrated Victim Services System is separate from a county jail roster and from VINELink. It can address state parole, discharge, and related events for registered users. Notifications are timely aids, but the certificate and official history remain stronger proof.
