Trace Marfa Police Releases

To find someone released after a Marfa Police Department arrest, first identify the agency and building that accepted the person for booking. Marfa Police is a municipal law-enforcement agency, not a separately verified public jail with its own inmate roster. A Presidio County release record may therefore sit with the county jail or another receiving custodian. The right search follows the custody path, then pairs the physical release entry with the related court file. That method separates a community release from a transfer and avoids treating a missing name as proof that all custody ended.

Marfa Police Release Routes

The county facilities plan identifies a police-use area near the county jail, but that map label does not establish an independent Marfa detention facility or public release database. A person arrested by Marfa Police may be taken to the Presidio County Jail, held only long enough for a booking handoff, or transported under another agency's authority. Ask where the person was admitted. The arresting agency and the jail custodian can be different.

A departure from the receiving jail can mean bond, a personal-recognizance bond, time served, a court order, sentence completion, or transfer. Transfer to another county, TDCJ, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration custody is continuous custody, not community release. The destination and release-authority fields decide which description fits. If the response merely says “not here,” ask whether historical booking records and transfer documents were checked.

Confirm Marfa Police Release Records

Begin with a full name, birth date when appropriate, arrest date, and any case or booking number. Ask Marfa Police or sheriff dispatch which facility accepted the arrestee. Then contact that custodian and ask whether the search covered both current custody and historical bookings. Presidio County has no verified public live roster, municipal release list, or police release database, so a direct status check and focused written request are the reliable local route.

  1. Preserve the agency name, arrest date, charge caption, and identifiers from the source that led to the inquiry.
  2. Ask which jail booked the person and whether the departure was a community release or transfer.
  3. Request the existing booking sheet, release sheet, custody history, and transfer record from the accepting jail.
  4. Match the jail event to the proper clerk file, using the case number rather than name alone.
  5. If a destination is named, verify admission and later release with that receiving system.

The countywide Presidio County released-inmate search explains how to join the jail and court timelines. A bond order may authorize release hours before physical exit. A later dismissal does not change an earlier bond release into a dismissal release. State each event on its own date.

Key distinction: an arrest by Marfa Police identifies who made the arrest. It does not identify the final custodian or prove where release occurred.

Marfa Police Record Contacts

The research does not verify a separate Marfa Police jail records counter, release hour, or public roster. Presidio County Sheriff dispatch handles calls for Marfa police, fire, and emergency services and can help route a custody question. For a jail record, use the sheriff and jail custodian rather than assuming the municipal department holds the complete confinement history.

Ask for existing records, not a new narrative. A useful request names the booking or jail card, release-log entry, release sheet, custody history, transfer paper, and booking photograph. Request actual admission and release time, release reason or authority, destination, case number, bond status, and arresting agency where held. Fees, response timing, redactions, and availability are determined case by case under the Texas Public Information Act.

Note: The published jail visitation schedule is not a release schedule and does not establish records-counter hours.

Marfa Arrest Archive Limits

Presidio County's official online pattern is an annual arrest-and-photo archive rather than a live “who is in jail” service. Its entries can preserve a name, arrest date, charge description, and linked photo long after custody changes. They do not supply booking time, bond, release time, release reason, destination, court disposition, or current status. An old entry and a no-current-custody response are compatible, but together they still do not explain why the person left.

Use the archive as an arrest lead. Quote its charge caption as an allegation at intake, not a conviction. Check spelling variants, suffixes, multiple surnames, aliases, and agency identifiers. If the sheriff cannot find a historic record, ask whether it is in an archival system, held by a vendor, or maintained by the jail that received the person. Do not infer that no record means no booking.

Booking
The admission event for one jail episode.
Release
Departure from that custodian, either to the community or another authority.
Transfer
Movement to a new custodian while confinement continues.
Disposition
The court's later resolution of a charge, distinct from the jail exit.

Marfa Release Records During Closure

Local reporting documents a distinct Presidio County record-location problem. The county jail stopped taking federal prisoners in August 2018 and local prisoners in September 2018 while officials addressed ventilation, wiring, fire-exhaust, and security-door work. Prisoners were housed in neighboring jails until Texas Commission on Jail Standards approval preceded reopening in April 2019. This history does not describe present operations, but it matters for arrests from that period.

A Marfa Police arrest during the shutdown may have a local arrest record and an out-of-county custody record. Ask the sheriff for the receiving jail named on the transport or transfer paperwork. Then obtain both sides: the Presidio sending record and the neighboring jail's admission and release record. The absence of a local roster entry during that period is especially weak evidence of community release.

The same logic applies outside the closure dates whenever a warrant belongs to another county. The issuing case may explain why the person was moved. The receiving jail records when custody continued and later ended.

Marfa Federal Transfer Checks

County minutes refer to a federal contract-prisoner agreement, making federal transfer a real local possibility. That evidence does not identify every prisoner's custodian and does not turn Marfa Police or the county jail into an ICE facility. Read the destination field. If it names USMS or another federal agency, obtain the federal case number and consult the federal docket for detention, release, commitment, or sentencing orders.

USMS uses contracted local space for many pretrial prisoners but has no broad historic public locator like BOP. After a federal sentence, the BOP locator may show a Release Date and a Location of “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody.” Those fields resolve BOP custody only. They do not rule out supervised release, a state warrant, or immigration custody. An ICE handoff requires the ICE locator and the named facility or ERO office.

Note: Always describe the event as release from the named custodian, not freedom from every possible custody system.

Best Marfa Release Proof

The strongest local proof is a timeline built from competent records. The accepting jail records physical admission and exit. The court records the legal order and case outcome. A receiving agency records continuing custody. Keep each event separate when dates differ. If identity remains uncertain, do not join records based on a common name.

Ask the custodian to define any code. “PR” may mean personal-recognizance bond in context, while “TR” may suggest transfer, but neither should be expanded without the agency's legend. A blank destination does not itself prove community release. Preserve the request, response, invoice, and retrieval date so later changes can be explained.

Most useful fields: booking number, actual exit time, release authority, destination, receiving agency, and court case number.
